OC Bridges Orangethorpe Tustin/Rose Construction Update 3

About two months since my last update on the OCTA OC Bridges construction project, a lot of framework has been going up. The columns shown in a previous update are all in place now.

And they have all been filled with concrete. The construction crews have also been building a wooden framework with girders laid out on the top and bottom of the framework.

They built these wooden frameworks around all of the columns. On the south side of the train tracks, the framework goes from the columns, over the channel and almost to the south wall. On the north side of the train tracks they’ve built the framework around the columns, left a gap for eastbound street traffic, set up another framework of wood and girders in the middle of the road, left another gap in the road for westbound traffic, then have a final set of framework along the north section of the wall.

At this point I’m somewhat confused as to whether or not this wooden framework will be permanent or is just a kind of scaffolding for putting in the bridge. Since it doesn’t appear to be anchored anywhere (looks like it’s basically resting on some thick blocks of wood) I would guess it’s more of the latter. I hope it’s only temporary since it’s blocking a lot of the view.

Speaking of view, the construction crews recently put up a sound wall around the outside of my backyard wall. For some reason it only goes about two feet above the backyard wall which doesn’t seem like it will do anything for dampening sound in the upstairs rooms. And the posts they used for the sound wall are quite a bit taller than the sound wall itself…couldn’t they have used shorter posts?

Because of the sound wall, I’ll be unable to take pictures from the previous spots, so they’ll all likely be from the upstairs windows now. My pictures of trains will be much more obstructed as well.
